Suicide Squad’s battle pass and endgame plans sound… good?
Rocksteady developers behind the upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League– an open-world co-op looter shooter in the DC Villains style – revealed some new details and thinking behind the game’s Battle Pass, seasons and endgame content. And while it’s still a live service game that will likely have its own issues upon release, I’m optimistic based on these recent answers, which sound good, at least on paper.
First revealed back in 2020, Suicide Squad is the next game from Rocksteady, the developers behind its predecessor Batman: Arkham games. And even though this new shooter is set in the same universe, fans haven’t been particularly excited about the game since its release. Whenever we see more of it –via trailers or leaks– it closely resembles a live service shooter, even if Rocksteady doesn’t want to admit it. Mixed previews Earlier this month, it didn’t help convince people either. However, in a recent Discord Q&A, the developers laid out their plans Suicide SquadThe endgame and seasons of “s”, suggesting that this game is completely playable alone and won’t keep you busy playing limited-time content for weeks.
On January 26th over at the official Suicide Squad The developers held a second question and answer session on the Discord server after the previous one was so well received. This time around, many of the select community questions and developer answers seemed aimed at convincing people that this game doesn’t require you to treat it like a second job.
“We all love playing games, but we also have lives,” said Axel Rydby, game director at Suicide Squad.
“That was a big part of our design philosophy when developing this game. We don’t want the game to feel like a lifelong commitment, or a game where you have to sacrifice a lot to see all the content on offer, or feel like you’re not progressing well in the game if you don’t can “play for hundreds of hours,” Rybdy explained.
A good example of this is that seasonal battle passes – which Rocksteady has reminded people on Discord several times only contain cosmetics – and all the content that is added to the game with each new season can be done at any time. All that stuff like Battle Pass exclusive outfits, new locations, missions and the game’s first new playable character, The JokerHe won’t leave the game when the season is over. According to Rocksteady, you can always go back and progress in a Battle Pass from a previous season, or even purchase the premium version long after release.
“We believe our team has created some of the most beautiful cosmetics ever,” added Darius Sadeghian, Studio Head at Rocksteady. “We want our players to be able to enjoy them without worrying about missing out.”
As someone who plays a lot Fourteen daysa game built on Battle Pass FOMO and limited-time items in its ever-changing store sounds very good.
You can play anything Suicide Squad Solo
Another example of Rocksteady claiming that the game respects your time and doesn’t require you to spend every day playing it is that every mission and activity in the game, even the most difficult endgame content, is completed alone can. Rydby emphasized that this was part of the studio’s philosophy when developing the co-op game.
“We want this game to be generous, both with your time and with all the features we have to offer,” Rybdy said.
Additionally, in today’s Discord Q&A session, Rocksteady confirmed that you can go back and replay all missions from the game’s story. And if you’re playing with friends and get past your current point in your own game, the developers say you can skip these sections when you return to your solo world. Another example of the team trying to respect the players’ time, which I really appreciate.
Of course, just because a game has great finals and season pass plans doesn’t mean it will be good. If Suicide SquadEven though the combat is bad, the gameplay is clunky, and/or the narrative is boring, it doesn’t matter how nice the season’s cosmetics are or how generous the battle pass may be; People will stop playing.
We don’t have to wait long to see if the game is fun enough to invest time in future seasons, characters, or more Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on February 2, 2024 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. If you pay that Ransom fee created by the publisher If you pre-order the deluxe edition you can play three days early.
